You for Me

I didn't care much for this Jane Greer comedy.  It wasn't very funny.  Fortunately, it was only 70 minutes.  Jane Greer's nursing job is on the line after an accident with Peter Lawford.  He's a rich man and he takes to Jane.  Basically, this is the same usual plot of a woman between two men -Peter and the doctor Gig Young.  I just didn't feel any chemistry between her and Gig Young. If you want to watch a Jane Greer movie just watch Out of the Past again.

Harvey

James Stewart plays a gentle alcoholic who talks to an imaginary bunny.  His sister tries to put him in an institution only they mistake her for the crazy one.  The truth comes out though.  This movie also stars Peggy Dow as a nurse.  She was one of the prettiest actresses of the 50's.  James Stewart was a great actor.  They don't make actors like they used to.  It's obvious that "Donnie Darko" was inspired by this.  I liked that movie too.

Rings on her Fingers

Gene Tierney plays a con artist who actually falls for Henry Fonda.  I felt no chemistry between the main stars.  Gene Tierney was one of the loveliest stars of her time, probably all of cinema actually but she made better movies.  This movie just fell flat.

A Soldier's Plaything

This was a pretty bad talkie with Harry Langdon. Harry Langdon was one of the most underrated comedians of the silent era. I'm a fan of Langdon's but I only laughed once during this movie.  It's short but it simply isn't a good movie.  The Strong Man included a bit of the war with No Man's Land and it was just so much funnier.  I recommend just watching that again.

Two Weeks in Another Town

This was Vincente Minnelli's other movie about Hollywood, the first being the superior The Bad and Beautiful.  Even though it has the same director and some of the same cast it just wasn't the same.  I found this movie shallow and I just didn't care about the main characters.  Daliah Lavi was gorgeous.  The main reason why I watched this is that I'm a fan of singer Leslie Uggams.  She sings here for 30 seconds.  Otherwise, this movie has nothing memorable about it.

Broadway Musketeers

This is a want to be "Three on a Match" and it's ok but it's not as memorable. The three actresses of this movie Ann Sheridan, Margaret Lindsay, and Marie Wilson play women who grew up in an orphanage together and decide to keep in touch.  However, Lindsay dumps her husband and loses custody of her child.   Lindsay eventually begins to realize what a mistake she made. Ann Sheridan marries that husband and takes care of Lindsay's child.  Marie Wilson doesn't have much to do here.  (Ann Sheridan plays a nightclub singer at the beginning of the movie and sings her own songs.  This is before she quits her career for a domestic one.)  It's only around an hour so it was worth watching.

Fight for your Lady

Jackie Oakie plays a wrestling manager who is also a matchmaker for a singer.  When the singer is dumped Jackie tries to set the singer up with Ida Lupino.  The amazing thing about this movie is that Ida Lupino is very pretty here.  That's not to say she wasn't a beautiful actress it's just that she was always moused up or played a tough girl.  This is a completely different role for her.  She was a pretty versatile actress.  The movie is just ok.  I liked it mostly because of Ida Lupino.
